Carbons for the alternator, also called carbon brushes, have the task to transmit the exciting current from the regulator onto the rotor or the slip ring. Since the rotor runs at a very high speed, the carbons have a correspondingly high wear as well. The wear, however, is on both sides, on the side of the carbons, but also on the side of the slip rings. They are often worn out and should then be replaced at the same time.
carbon brush is mainly made of high quality graphite, in order to increase electrical conductivity, it could be impregnated by copper, it will make carbon brush with good electrical conductivity,
it will better wear-resistant.
